What the cool kids are wearing

We live in a community of smocked frocks and big bows... I can't afford, nor do I particularly desire to, clothe Greyson completely in high end boutique outfits day in and day out... We're more eclectic bargain shoppers. I think we/she do/does a great job of letting her personal style shine through! "say cheese"

maybe not so much of a bun as a roll

Last night my sock bun sort of unrolled and did not result in many curls. I've rewatched the tutorial and I think it has more to do with my execution than anything else. I will definitely give it another shot.

Sock Bun Curls

So, as I mentioned in my first post I am addicted to the website pinterest. For those of you not familiar with the site you have "boards" where you "pin" pictures. Essentially it is a website that allows you to curate collections of pictures of whatever you want. (Examples: clothes, homes, furniture, recipes, crafts, school ideas, quotes, etc)
I have come across a couple of "tutorials" for different hairstyles. I have exceptionally long, thick hair.Because of this I wear my hair back/up most of the time. Charleston is hot and sticky and I have a toddler who likes to pull hair. I love messy, carefree looking updos but many times these are not as easy to achieve as they would appear. The other day I came across a tutorial for "sock bun" curls. Using a ponytail and a sock you can create a big fluffy bun that, if slept in, will (allegedly) yield luxurious curls the next morning. Tonight I'm going to give it a try...
Here are my "before" pictures and I'll update you in the am as to how it works.

SkinnyTaste Review- Chicken Rollatini with prosciutto and cheese

My husband is on his way to losing 100 lbs and while looking for more recipes we have discovered the website Gina's Skinnytaste and it is amazing! I'm going to make a post for each of the recipes we try, if for no other reason then just to keep track for myself of which ones are hits (and which ones are misses!)
Last night we tried the Chicken Rollatini with Prosciutto and Cheese... delicious! I could not have asked for a more satisfactory response. Hank and I loved it. For the kids I dipped some smaller pieces of chickens in the coating then cooked it (minus the proscuitto/cheese) and they loved just that. The dish smelled great, looked great, tasted great... really it just could not have gotten better.

You have to start somewhere...

Why cookies and kiddos? I'm a mom who loves her kids and who loves to cook. More specifically bake (yesterday I told my husband my favorite words are "to begin cream together butter and sugar") however, we are trying to eat more healthfully and I'm trying to expand beyond spaghetti as my go to dinner.
I am probably guilty of using my Facebook status to tell stories about my kids more often than everyone wants to read... but my kids are so darn funny, cute, and intelligent I need some venue to tell of their exploits.
Finally, I am OBSESSED with pinterest. I thought it would also be fun to have somewhere to keep track of the ideas/recipes/crafts I "pin" there and how often I actually implement them.
So, here we go....
